Preparation:

Earth Shot Instructions

To Assemble: Place handle over top of applicator and align with the pre-drilled holes. Insert screws (included). Do not over-tighten.

To Fill: Remove yellow reservoir cap. A funnel can be used to fill the reservoir with your solution. Reservoir holds 1 cup. Do not over-fill. Return yellow cap and tighten until it is snug.

Broadleaf Weeds: (i.e Dandelion or Common Plantain)

  1. Step 1:

    Earth Shot Instructions

Place the tip of the Earth Shot Applicator into the center, the crown of the weed. With a consistent downward pressure (firm, but not too hard), insert the tip into the weed until the bell is making contact with the weed’s leaves.

  2. Step 2:

    Earth Shot Instructions

Turn the handle of the device 360 degrees once or twice until the blades have “captured” and damaged the leaves and the root. The goal is not necessarily to "remove" the weed, but to damage all the leaves to allow the solution to "do its job" and be more effective.

  3. Step 3:

    Earth Shot Instructions

Press the solution reservoir release button (yellow) and wait 3 seconds, allowing the solution to drain from the tip. This will help prevent dripping.

Helpful Hints:

Earth Shot Instructions

Keeping the Tip Clean: To keep the tip blades clean and prevent dripping, we recommend occasionally using the supplied pick or swishing the tip in a bucket of water (customers find this to be very effective and easy).

Large Weeds: When controlling large weeds and weeds that group together (i.e., two weeds growing very close), be sure to target both “crowns” in these groupings, and use multiple “shots” of solution. If the center/root is missed, reapplication may be required.

Grass Clumps:

  1. Step 1:

    Earth Shot Instructions

For unwanted patches of grass, insert tip and twist 360 degrees once or twice, in multiple locations in the patch of grass.

  2. Step 2:

    Earth Shot Instructions

To increase effectiveness also spot spray over top of the patch of grass. Use the bell to prevent exposure to surrounding vegetation.

Large STEM Weeds (i.e., Thistles or Hemlock):

Large stem weeds are usually a variety of the broadleaf family. When these weeds are "young" the technique above is very effective. When the weed is mature and has a large stem several techniques can to be used:

  1. Step 1:

    Earth Shot InstructionsEarth Shot Instructions

Large Diameter "Stem" Weeds: cut the stem close to the ground with trimmers; gently insert the Earth-Shot tip into the stem while twisting the unit 360 degrees several times, creating a void. Push the button and fill the void with the solution.

  2. Step 2:

    Smaller Diameter Stem Weeds:

    1. Step 2a:

Pull the weed. Usually the weed's root breaks leaving the root vulnerable. Place the tip into to hole and discharge the solution over the root infrastructure.

    2. Step 2b:

Cut the weed. Cut the weed close the ground and use Earth-Shot to discharge the solution over the damaged stem.

Spot Spray Technique

  1. Step 1:

Use the tip to target the weed; place the bell over the weed to reduce splashing on wanted vegetation.

  2. Step 2:

Press the solution reservoir release button and wait 3 seconds.

Helpful Hints

To reduce dripping you may want to tap the tip on the ground or the targeted weed before raising the bell.
